What Research Is Exploring
Direct human research on Douglas Fir essential oil itself is limited. A large 2024 dental-practice study involving 486 patients tested several vaporized aromas; one of the blends, called Forest Walk, contained Douglas Fir together with multiple other essential oils. Because it was a multi-oil blend, the study cannot tell us what Douglas Fir contributed individually. Research directly on Pseudotsuga menziesii essential oil is otherwise largely chemical or laboratory work, including studies characterizing its volatile compounds. Human studies on other fir species should not automatically be treated as Douglas Fir evidence. The science is useful for understanding the oil and generating new research questions, but it does not establish that this retail product treats anxiety or another medical condition.
