What Research Is Exploring
Grapefruit essential oil is being studied directly in human aromatherapy trials. In a 2025 randomized controlled trial, 90 women with premenstrual syndrome were assigned to grapefruit, bergamot, or placebo aromatherapy groups. The grapefruit group showed improvements in the study’s overall premenstrual-symptom score and several symptom subscales. Other small human experiments show that grapefruit aroma can also influence physiological measurements such as blood pressure, illustrating that essential-oil effects can be complex rather than uniformly relaxing. These studies used specific inhalation protocols and do not establish that this bottle treats premenstrual syndrome or any medical condition. More research is needed.
