What Research Is Exploring
Human research directly on Lime essential oil is still limited. One small study in 30 male boxing athletes compared exercise alone, massage with ordinary lotion, and massage using Lime essential oil after exercise and reported differences in recovery measures. Because the study was small and massage itself was part of the intervention, it cannot establish what Lime essential oil contributed by itself. Other Lime essential-oil research is largely laboratory or animal work, including studies of its chemistry and antimicrobial activity. Those findings can help researchers decide what to study next, but they do not establish that this retail Lime oil treats pain, infection, inflammation, metabolic conditions, or another medical condition in people.
