What Research Is Exploring
Sweet orange essential oil is being studied in human aromatherapy research. In a 2024 randomized clinical trial, 84 women in labor were assigned to inhale sweet orange essential oil or placebo. The researchers reported lower pain and anxiety measures over time in the aromatherapy group. Another randomized study involving 80 hematology patients examined orange-oil inhalation during invasive procedures and also reported reductions in pain and anxiety measures. These were specific clinical protocols and populations, and they do not establish that this bottle will produce the same effects in ordinary home use. Research is continuing.
