What Research Is Exploring
Lemon essential oil has been studied in human aromatherapy research. In a multicenter clinical trial involving 100 patients hospitalized after acute myocardial infarction, lemon inhalation aromatherapy was associated with lower anxiety and changes in several cardiovascular measurements compared with the control condition. An earlier randomized controlled laboratory study of 56 healthy adults also found that lemon aroma improved positive mood compared with lavender and a water control, although it did not produce broad changes across the other biological measures studied. These findings come from specific research protocols and populations and do not establish that this bottle treats anxiety, cardiovascular disease, or any medical condition. Research is continuing.
